From small beginnings over half a century ago, we’ve grown to become one of NZ’s leading wholesalers of ready-to-brand clothing. The journey wasn’t that clean and tidy though. There’s been ups and downs, twists and turns.
In 1966, our founder was burning midnight oil, developing his first range for the fledgling business ‘Banbury Cross’. Named after the nursey rhyme, Banbury became synonymous with high-end, quality children’s clothing for the next 20 years.
Fast forward to the 80’s and 90’s. The world was changing. NZ was changing. Out went economic protectionism. In came big box retail. Almost overnight, the writing was on the wall for the business. It was time to change too.
In fact, it was time to start all over again. In 1994, we launched the brand ‘Aurora’. Specializing in sweatshirts and hoodies, and with a focus on quality and warmth, Aurora quickly became the choice for screenprinters and embellishers throughout NZ.
Another 20 years went by and it was time for another change. 2015 saw us launch the brand ‘Cloke’. As the younger brother to Aurora, Cloke brought a more playful vibe to the range, while retaining the quality and comfort that had been part of the Banbury DNA since its inception.
A few more years, and Cloke had grown to the point where the next logical step was to go ‘Cloke all the way’. So Banbury became Cloke Clothing Ltd. The remaining Aurora styles transitioned to Cloke neck labels.
And here we are. Today, we offer a wide range of jackets, hoodies, merino, t-shirts and much more.
Every Cloke is a blank canvas: Born to brand.
There’s a lot that goes into this. It means using fabrics designed for embellishment. It means using construction techniques that allow branding gear to do their thing. It means a bunch of other things that together, keep the finished, branded garment looking good for years to come.
Because ultimately, it’s about your brand more than ours. Whether it’s your uniform, your promotional merchandise, or your retail brand - we want it looking awesome.
